CBD (cannabidiol) is the most abundant cannabinoid present in the hemp plant. The plants contain over 100 other cannabinoids but all in far lower amounts.
In accordance with UK regulations, we do not make any health claims in respect to the use of our products but recommend them only for general wellness.
However, people may take CBD to aid their body’s recovery, alleviate particular symptoms or as a daily supplement to generally support their wellbeing. For more detailed information on CBD, please see our What is CBD page.
Hemp, cannabis and marijuana are all part of the same family of plants. Hemp is a strain of cannabis sativa whereas marijuana – colloquially called cannabis - may be cannabis sativa, cannabis indica or cannabis ruderalis. Generally, marijuana will contain a high amount of THC but a low amount of CBD. However, hemp has a very high level of CBD and only a very small amount of THC.
The plants look different too. Although there are a number of different strains of hemp, the plants tend to be taller and more fibrous than marijuana which is a smaller, bushier plant and often with more flowering buds. In addition to being a source of CBD, the strength of the hemp plant makes it suitable for a wide range of uses, including building materials and paper, whereas marijuana’s uses are normally limited to the extraction of cannabinoids for recreational and medicinal purposes.
These are two entirely different products despite some retailers’ insinuations that they may be similar. Hemp oil is generally made by cold pressing hemp seeds. It has a number of nutritional qualities and is available in several health stores and supermarkets.
Hemp seeds will contain only traces of cannabinoids. Our CBD is extracted from the whole plant and contains, well, CBD.
Products sold by retailers as containing “hemp oil” are unlikely to contain any meaningful amounts of CBD or other cannabinoids.
No. All of our products are entirely free of THC (0.0%). THC is the compound in marijuana and cannabis that produces the psychoactive effect.
CBD Isolate is 99% pure cannabidiol offering CBD in its purest and most concentrated form.
If you are taking other medication, then we always recommend that you speak with your GP first before including CBD in your wellness routine. We also advise that you should not take CBD if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
Our advice is that CBD should not be taken by, or given to, anyone under the age of 18.
